Racism

The first subject I am going to be touching on is racism and how it affects people to this day.

First off, people of color generally have to deal with harmful stereotypes relating to their country and/or their race or color in general.

For example, the "black girls are loud bitches" stereotype.

Or the "all black boys are thugs".

And I can't forget the "all Muslims are terrorists and are directly responsible for ISIS".

All people are different. Not everybody is the same, no matter how much your close minded brain tells you that they are. This applies to white people too, though not as much as poc.

All I have to say about harmful stereotypes is STOP.

People of color won't stop stereotyping white people until you stop stereotyping them as well.

Now, moving on.

I think one of the biggest problems is police brutality towards young, innocent people of color.

Police officers can only use deadly force in self-defense or if the criminal resists arrest. Often, police officers brutally injure young people of color when they aren't even resisting arrest or fighting back. A lot of the time people get killed because of this. Apparently, cops can get charged if they do not follow those rules, yet hundreds of cases go uncharged because people of color are deemed as "thugs" or more dangerous than white people.

I'm sure that this happens to white people as well, but it doesn't affect white people as much as it does people of color.

Racism is still very alive.

Obviously there is much more than just police brutality and harmful stereotypes but I just wanted to touch on those specifically because I felt it was important to talk about.

Thanks for listening.
